Springtime Main Ideas!

Great instructional lesson on main ideas and supporting details. Within the lesson, the students will learn the definition of a main idea and supporting detail. They will be able to practice identifying these within a paragraph. Then, the students are able to divide into two teams to play a game. Within the game, the students are given a grid of 4 different topics. The topics include identifying a main idea, identifying a supporting detail, identifying details that are not important/supportings, and a combination of all of these. Each team may select a question worth 100-500 points. If they answer correctly, they are able to receive the designated points. This lesson allows for instruction in a motivating, exciting way. The game may be used in a general education classroom, special education classroom, or with a few students. Enjoy this great game!
