Spring Cutting Practice {Fine Motor Activities and Spring Crafts}

Do you need to add extra fine motor practice to your day? These scissor skills and cutting practice worksheets are a great way to provide fine motor activities to your curriculum. These Spring crafts would make purposeful morning work, center activities or work for fast finishers to complete. This unit includes over 30 Spring crafts and activities to practice cutting.

Your classroom is full of unique students and they each have unique abilities. That's why I tried to include many different versions of similar activities. Your students will be able to build their fine motor and cutting skills at their level of strength and confidence. The following activities are included.

Cut and Paste Puzzles-Students will cut along the straight lines to create puzzle pieces and glue them on their puzzle boards. I've included 3, 4, 5 and 6 piece puzzles.

Cut and Match-Students will cut the spring baby animals out and find the matching shape to glue them down.

Cutting Strips-Cutting strips are a simple way for students to practice cutting many types of lines. Prep the strips before so that students can choose which ones to cut.

Snipping Practice-Snipping is an important precursor to cutting longer lines. Using a precut rectangle of paper, students will make short "snips" or cuts. I've included 19 different strips with Spring pictures on them. You'll also find a raindrop snipping craft where students "snip" the raindrops and add them below the clouds.

Shape Puzzles-Students will cut various Spring items out and use them to create their own Spring picture.

Plant the Flowers-Students cut flower tops out by cutting circles and ovals to create their own garden.

Decorate Your Bug-Students will cut their own shapes out and add them to the bugs.

Bumblebee Stripes-Students should cut curved lines out to add them to their bumblebee.

My Flower Garden-Students will cut irregular shapes like petals, leaves, and stems to create Spring flowers.

My Rainbow-Students will cut curved lines out of colored paper to create a rainbow.

Frog and Lily Pad-Students will cut squares or an irregular shape with straight lines and round lily pads to make their own pond.

Lightning Bolts-Students will cut zigzag straight lines to make lightning bolts and add them to their clouds.

What's in the Grass-Students will cut straight lines out of green paper to make "grass" and hide Spring animals behind the grass.
