    Description

This bundle is made up of 15 fun Spring themed activities that develop fine motor (cutting, coloring and manipulating), gross motor, math (counting objects and number recognition), literacy (upper/lowercase recognition, prewriting skills, beginning sounds, basic print concepts and vocabulary), and social emotional skills (self regulation, sharing, taking turns). This versatile pack has activities that can be done independently in centers, during small group time, and circle time.

    Circle Time

Bingo, Signs of Spring Activity - This is a simple Spring themed Bingo for students to familiarize themselves with the signs of Spring.

What do you See in the Sky? Visual Discrimination and Number Recognition - In this activity, students look for hidden cloud pictures and numbers in the sky images. Below are ideas on how to do this as a large group, small group, and independently.

Bonnie the Busy Bee, Song Chant Activity with Numbers & Letters - This is a whole-class activity where the students have to find Bonnie the busy bee by singing a chant and choosing a letter or number tile that she can be hidden under. The chant goes, “Bonnie is a busy bee. She pollinates the flowers she sees. Drinking the nectar tea. Where can she be?”

    Math

Counting with Flowers - Students will look at the number on the flower pot and add that number of flowers to the stems using dry erase markers, artificial flowers, or printable flowers provided in this resource. Print friendly versions are included, too.

Counting and Number Recognition with Spring Puzzles - Students will put together numbered puzzle strips to create Spring pictures. Each puzzle has numbers that go in order to create images. This activity comes in color only.

Counting, Writing, Fine Motor Skills creating a Spring Book - Students will create their own books by coloring Spring themed things, counting those things, and writing in how many. Print friendly versions are included too.

    Literacy

Baby Chicks - Letter Recognition - This literacy activity practices upper and lowercase letter recognition. Students match two puzzle pieces to make a chick. Each puzzle pair has a picture of chick with an uppercase and lowercase letter(e.g. Aa). There are color and print friendly versions of each.

Playing Catch - Beginning Sounds Activity - This activity practices letter recognition and beginning sounds. Students will use baseballs with a picture of an object on each ball. You will say the letter and, with the help of the students, guess the letter sound. A student with the baseball card with the same beginning sound object will put their card in the mitt. Another option is to use the cards to make a file folder activity.

Name Recognition, Kites - Name activities are a great way to reinforce letter recognition with students. Students typically stay engaged for longer periods of time because name activities are more meaningful to them. Here the students will make a Spring themed picture of a kite in the sky. You model by writing their name on the cloud and they write the letters in their name on each tie of the kite’s tail.

Vocabulary Cards - These cards can be used in many different ways. Each card has a picture of common things that represent Spring and the word printed below it. You can create a memory match game, post in the literacy center or word wall and reference them when talking about Spring.

    Fine Motor

Racing Snails - The students create a 3D paper snail. With your help, they will attach their snail to a string and a popsicle stick, and race against other snails. The snail moves forward by the student alternating their hands in a twisting motion to wind up the string on the stick.

Wiggly Worm Coloring Page with Cutting Activity - The students will color a worm coloring page with grass. They will then cut the grass and attach it to the coloring page.

How Many Baby Animals? Cutting Activity - The students will color an animal sheet. There are ducks, geese and pigs. They will then decide how many babies their animal will have, cut and glue to the colored sheet. They will then write the total number of babies they decided to add.

    Gross Motor

Movement Dice (gross motor coordination, balance and control)

There are print friendly versions of each.

    Dramatic Play

Turn your dramatic play center into a Garden Center/ Flower Shop with math and literacy skills incorporated.

    Mostly in color.
