Spelling SMART in Grades 5 and 6: SMARTNotebook

Spelling SMART was created by Carrie Sutton to meet the spelling needs of her Grade 5 and 6 class students. It is a SMART notebook file so that it can easily be viewed by students in the classroom.

"I noticed many of them could not spell a large portion of the high frequency words. I also wanted them to use these lessons to learn how to write good sentences with varied beginnings and lengths, and of different types, which contained figurative language. The idea for dress-ups and sentence starters came from Betty Wiebe's Blended Structure and Style in Writing program.
Each week, I tried to use the student's names in the sample sentences."

Teacher slides (39 - 47) can be used with students (The samples are all student generated during the spelling work).

There are 35 lessons, one for each week of school. They are fully editable and include the High Frequency Words #150 - 850.
