Description

Studying for the praxis? I am here to help! I created this 200+ page study guide as I studied for the praxis exam in February of 2019. A few things to note, this study guide is based off of the “An Advanced Review of Speech-Language Pathology – Preparation for the Praxis and Comprehensive Examination FOURTH EDITION” by Roseberry-McKibbin and Hedge. This is the green and blue book from 2016. After completing this study guide, I then bought the most recent praxis book from 2019 but due to the minimal number of differences in both content and structure no major changes were necessary. In my opinion, the fourth edition is worth the price point as the content is so similar.

The fourth edition is broken into the following chapters:

1. Anatomy, neuroanatomy, and physiology of the speech mechanism

2. Physiological and Acoustic Phonetics: A speech science foundation

3. Language development in children

4. Language disorders in children

5. Speech sound development and disorders

6. Fluency and disorders

7. Voice and disorders

8. Neurologically based communicative disorders and dysphagia

9. Communication disorders in multicultural populations

10. Assessment and Treatment: EBP

11. Research

12. Special Topics

13. Professional Issues

This study guide follows the above chapter breakdown and goes into depth on each topic and subtopic. Each chapter review section contains the answers/notes for the questions located at the end of each chapter. Additionally, each section contains pictures, charts, and note boxes for additional support. Pictures and charts were obtained from both the fourth and fifth addition of these praxis review books.

I highly recommend that you use this study guide as you begin your studying quest. Print it out, highlight it, scribble on it, whatever you need to do for the information to sink in! This study guide should be used in addition to your graduate course work and knowledge you have obtained during undergraduate, graduate school, and/or both!

* Dysarthria/Motor Speech chart IS included in this item*

Please reach out with any questions or concerns and I would be happy to assist!

Good luck!

- Chloe
