Opinion Writing Grade Level Identifying Rubric

The purpose of this rubric is to give resource teachers a tool that helps them quickly identify the grade level their students are writing at. This rubric is designed to be used three times a year as a benchmarking tool, NOT as a progress monitoring tool.

The rubric included can be used with any opinion writing completed independently by the student.

Included in the benchmarking kit that you can purchase is:

-Rubric to identify levels of k-4th writing

-Opinion writing prompt for K, 1st, and 2nd

-Opinion writing prompt with an article for grades 

3rd and 4th

-Explanation on how to grade papers using the
