Description

Due to popular demand, I have combined my English and Spanish Individual and Peer Editing Checklists into a bundle at a reduced price. I had both of these charts as separate listings, but this listing will serve those who need each list on a combined sheet for both Spanish and English writers. This is a great tool for dual language, bilingual, multilingual, and adult education programs. These lists were created for my writing workshops' editing lessons in both English and Spanish. Enjoy!

Lesson Guide:

Step 1 is for the student to complete and Step 2 is for their peer to help edit their writing. This typically took us 1-2 days to complete, one step per day.

The last row allows each student to evaluate how close the writing is to its final written or typed copy. Students can rate the draft by shading in some or all of the stars based on their opinion.

At the end of both steps, the teacher can speak to the student writer during a writing conference. This allows time for student and teacher to discuss the status of the writing up to that point and whether it is ready to continue on to its final copy or not.

Something to consider is the experience level of your students when it comes to doing a multi-step editing checklist. Younger grade levels will require a bit more modeling and multiple opportunities to practice throughout the school year. In this case, I recommend the separate listings first (English Individual and Peer Editing Checklists and Spanish Individual and Peer Editing Checklists) which separate the individual and peer editing checklists. It's a great way to scaffold the process a bit better for this population.

These combo checklists could function as an end-of-the-year editing sheet for students in younger grade levels who have benefited from modeling each step and are ready to see all steps on a single sheet of paper.

****This version contains checklists in bullet form on one page for your Spanish writing students and another for your English writing students. Students can staple the sheet to their rough draft as part of one of their major grades. The final copy would be another major grade once completed and submitted. ****
