Use these comprehensible input Spanish Story Builder Cards for Spanish class to engage students in authentic writing. Students write a silly story in a small group using the random cards they are given. They must include the vocab from the cards in the story they create. This is a fun way to provide comprehensible input for students and an engaging way for them to produce output in the target language.

How to use this resource:
Print 1 copy on white cardstock 1-sided with colored ink. Laminate if you can. Cut out the cards. *Ask students to help with this to make it go faster. :) You will be able to use these year after year!

Assign students into groups of 3-4. Pass out 7-10 cards per group (depending on your class size). Students will need a blank piece of paper and something to write with for their group.

The cards are divided into categories. Each category has a different background pattern. This helps you identify the category as you pass cards out. It's best to give each group of students a variety of categories so they have a mixture of places, characters, verbs, and descriptions to work with. Shuffle the cards and give them a new set to write another story. There are many ways you can get creative with these cards!
