Spanish Reading Activity: El medio ambiente

This download includes two authentic, Spanish-language articles that will greatly promote reading comprehension development and support units on the Environment.

The first article describes an effort to help children in Africa by auctioning off autographed jerseys from professional soccer players and other celebrities.

The second article is a paragraph-length summary of the countries ranked as the best and worst according to their resource management and pollution control.

Each of the articles has a list of comprehension questions for discussion or assessment. Both articles are ideal for Spanish Levels 2 and above or for any group who has studied thematic units that relate to helping others and the environment.

There is also a word search activity where, for homework, students research the words in the word bank. The featured words are key to understanding the two articles read during the next day's class.

These materials will be great additions to your current unit plan and works very well as part of your substitute teacher materials. You can also use it for homework, as a differentiation tool, as part of a mini-lesson, or as a pre-reading assignment for a class discussion, as formative or summative reading assignments.

In fact, Science classes with Spanish-speakers can also employ this as a cross-curricular and reading activity.
