Students will help story characters state the title, author, characters, and setting of the book.

Students will draw pictures to show what Nicki might see, hear, smell, feel, and taste in this story.

Patterning Center

Students will visit a center station and complete AB, ABB, and ABC pattern strips.

Quantity Comparison Center

Students will visit a center, compare quantities, and add the correct symbol (>, <, =) to the comparison card.

Counting the Animals of “El mitón” – tallying worksheet

Syllables Center

In a center station, students will sort syllable cards by color, match with a picture whose frame is the same color, then use the syllable cards to "write" the pictured word.

How many syllables are there? - divide & count worksheet

Following Auditory Directions - coloring sheet

Teacher reads 1-step directions aloud. Students complete the direction. To differentiate: teachers may vary directions, based on class goals, i.e., “Color the boy after you color the fox,” for temporal directions; “If you like chocolate, color the hedgehog,” for conditional directions, etc.
