Spanish Alphabet and Pronunciation Guide

Finally an easy resource for teaching the Spanish alphabet! If you’re tired of the book breaking the letters up and teaching a few every chapter, or you’ve just always wanted a concise breakdown of all of the pronunciation rules, then I have what you’re looking for! This student alphabet and pronunciation resource packet includes a table of the alphabet, a chart of all of the pronunciation rules with Spanish and English sound examples, pronunciation tips for the harder sounds (like the tongue roll, the open-mouthed, soft B, and the guttural H sound), examples of dialectal differences (the Y, Ll), and handy information about that pesky X that can have so many different pronunciations (eks, H, S and then there’s the indigenous words!), and a summary of the changes that the alphabet has undergone in the past two decades.

This is a great resource to teach from, but I would also suggest that you print it out 2 or 4 pages to a sheet and give to the students. Once your students learn the rules, every new word encountered with one of these rules becomes a review of the alphabet! My technique is to assign each student a letter the first day of class and have them become the ‘expert’ for that letter. They are responsible to ‘teach’ the other students what sound/s the letter makes and under what circumstances! It gets the whole class involved, and the repetition really cements the rules for the students! I hope you enjoy this resource as much as I have… I have used this packet for 16 years, and I can’t imagine trying to teach Spanish without it!
