What educators are saying

Thanks! Activities were thorough and detailed. Material was visually appealing. Large range of topics covered in this resource.

Description

It’s time to explore the universe with this ENTIRE UNIT on Space and Sky Science! Featuring a full colour and interactive digital document, it is perfect for distance learning or classroom use.

The document functions as a digital textbook and is split into seven topic sections (missions) with questions for the students to work through. Students will be guided through these questions with links to videos, websites, and other digital tools where they can learn from experts and fully appreciate the stunning beauty of space exploration.

At the end of each topic, there is a mission assignment, each offering multiple options for completion to best suit different kinds of learners. All assignments come with a project description, Google Slide templates, an assessment rubric, and reflection questions. There is also a final project template for the end of the unit.

This is everything you need to start teaching Sky Science right now! Everything is ready for you, so there’s no prep required. (And if you are keeping everything digital, you don’t even have to print anything!) This comprehensive unit for Sky Science lines up with the Alberta Program of Studies.

NOTE: To fully utilize this resource each student or group of students will need a device with an internet connection.

See below for tips on using with Google Classroom.

Some Tips for Google Classroom:

To use in Google Classroom, you can share the PDF pages you want students to complete, whether that is a whole section, a specific page, or a project. They can then read the pages and follow the links to complete the questions. I find it works best to just have them submit their work in a Google Doc.

The projects will take various forms depending on what the student chooses, so they can just upload the necessary files (image, voice recording, and so on). There are also Google Slide templates provided with the resource. You can make a copy and share those with students as you see fit. (For these you probably want to give each student their own copy.)

The download for this resource now includes a separate file for each section and project, for convenience. The entirety of the unit is of course still included so you can choose which pieces you want to use. I use and recommend ilovepdf.com. It enables you to split PDF files into whatever ranges you want, and it preserves all the links.
