South Africa! Shaka Zulu - South African King and Warrior includes lesson, lesson guide worksheet, easy-prep craft and activity. Shaka Zulu, king and military mastermind of the great Zulu Nation in South Africa, is credited for uniting over 100 chiefdoms into one mighty kingdom. He is also famous for developing many new war tactics, which include innovations in weapons, successful battle strategies such as the “Buffalo Formation” and building strong armies. During his reign, he was able to expand the Zulu nation from 1,500 to 250,000 people. This lesson introduces students to this important South African historical figure and includes instructions for an easy prep craft to make an iconic Zulu Warrior Shield. A fun group activity to replicate the Buffalo Formation battle strategy is also included in this lesson.
