What educators are saying

My students really enjoyed working on this essay. Making a connection to music was a great way to hook them and engage them in the writing process.
This was a nice resource to use when asking my Freshmen to write their personal narratives this year. Thanks!

Description

This is everything you need to introduce students to narrative writing (using the five paragraph essay outline). I have students create this "Soundtrack of My Life" narrative in order for me to get to know them better and begin our review of the writing process.

This purchase is for several editable Microsoft Word/PowerPoint documents. I include my pacing guide and classroom directions for the included assignments, but the entire download is 100% editable so you can adjust everything to meet the needs of your students/district requirements.

**This download includes all of the following:

  • A Student-Ready Essay Brainstorming PowerPoint
  • A handout of the above PowerPoint Slides for students absent day of
  • “Soundtrack of My Life” Essay intro + process breakdown for students
  • A model of proper MLA format
  • SOML Essay Prewrite Graphic Organizer
  • SOML Sample Essay + Homework Handout
(I do recommend and encourage writing your own example!)
  • SOML Essay “Rubric”
(Again, highly encourage adjusting this to your students' needs)

My “Soundtrack of My Life” Revision Stations and “One Night to Rewrite” instructions/resources are available for purchase in my TpT store as well.
