What educators are saying

This was a great way for students to write words with 5 and 6 sounds. It really helped the students map out each sound in a word.
Mapping words has really helped me boost my phonics instructions. Kids have really picked up learning new spelling rules!

Description

Are you explicitly teaching sound-symbol correspondence in your classroom? Trying to help your students match ONE phoneme to ONE grapheme? Use these blank sheets to help students match phonemes to graphemes and strengthen their reading and spelling skills through multi-sensory learning.

Included are 5 sheets to be used with any words. Students will practice identifying the number of sounds in a word, blocking off the correct number of squares, and then writing the correct sounds in the boxes. One box = one sound!

I've also included 3 completed versions so you can see how different phonics patterns are mapped!

There is also a Google Slides version included. Students (or the teacher when modeling) will drag the colored squares to represent the number of sounds. Then, they will click inside those squares to write the letter(s) that represent that sound.
