Supporting Indigenous Resources for Inclusive Learning in Elementary Schools

TEN different comprehension activities support the story, Sometimes I Feel Like a River, written by Danielle Daniel and illustrated by Josee Bisaillon.

DIFFERENTIATED reading response activities to support grades 1-3 include:

Visualization, Connection, Meaning/Infer, Question, Plus... Place-Based Learning Activity, Sensory Writing, and Flip Book Activity

This unit is developed to support a single read aloud copy. There is zero prep needed (other than photocopying.)

Also included, an activity integrating technology and nature to support place based learning and inquiry.

This unit supports the following BC Curriculum Language Arts 'Big Ideas':

  • Curiosity and wonder lead us to new discoveries about ourselves and the world around us

The differentiated activity sheets supporting this unit are perfect for students between Grade 1 - Grade 3 and could be used to guide discussions for Kindergarten. (This is also perfect for big buddy / little buddy classroom activities!)
