What types of problems are included?

  • Students should be familiar with the properties of logarithms.
  • Students should be able to solve an exponential equation that has a “hidden quadratic” such as 2^(2x)+2^x−20=0 or 2^(x)−20(2^(−x) )=−1 .
  • Students should be able to solve an exponential equation that has a different base on each side (such as 2^x=3^(4−x)).
