Description

When studying the solar system, planet travel guides are excellent, multi-day, integrated projects where students research and make travel brochures for the planet of their choice. The project also offers flexibility in the approach used to make the travel guides. They can be completed by hand or on the computer using templates (both approaches have value) or the travel guides can be completed using a combination of the two approaches.

Images from NASA for each planet are included in this resource. The completed projects can be quite beautiful and make for a very impressive bulletin board display. There are two grading rubrics for the activity provided, both on a numerical point scale. One is for elementary and the other for middle school. The file is editable so you can change the rubric if desired.

Dr. David Purvis. After obtaining a PhD in Microbiology, I switched careers and became a middle school and elementary science teacher because I loved kids. Almost thirty years later I have taught science in some context to every grade level from pre-K to college education classes. My store offers rigorous resources that align meaningful content, an inquiry approach, NGSS standards, and student interest.
