The majority of the passages practice Soft C.

There are 18 Soft C passages and 5 Soft G passages.

There are different levels so you can choose which passages work best for your students. If you've used my reading comprehension passages before, you know I try to use very decodable words and simple sight words so children can simply focus on the new phonics skill they're practicing (in this case: soft c or soft g, depending on the passage) so they are passages kids can actually read independently!

All of the 23 passages have a picture related to the story that students can color to aid comprehension and add to the activity. A text-only version (no picture) of each passage is also included for students who need to have no distractions.

I also included alternates of some of the pages with other spelling options for those of you in other countries to substitute words like mom/mum, math/maths, center/centre, etc.

These are great for small groups practice and would make a great fluency and comprehension center. They can also be great for tutoring, homework, or as assessments. They provide SO much reading practice that will help your students develop fluency.

For additional practice, you can also have your students go through and mark the words they found with the phonics sound being focused on. You can also have them mark where they found the answers to their questions.

This is GREAT practice for testing while also providing a lot of fluency and comprehension practice!
