Social Skills for Autism: Personal Space- My Space Bubble Activities

Personal space is an important social skill for children to learn. This pack help teach students what personal space is and how to follow the 'rules'.

Beginning with a social story, the concept of personal space is explain and visuals are introduced to help students imagine a 'bubble' around them and their friends. If you re respecting personal space then you are a good space pilot. If you burst your friends personal space then you are a space invader! The story gives examples of these two concepts and when people come in and out of space bubble.

Follow on from the social story with a board game. Move the space pilots around the board looking at the pictures that show people in social situations. Players need to decide if the people in the pictures are being good space pilots or space invaders. If correct, players get to collect a space ship- the winner is the one with the most space ships!

Also included are desk top visuals, classroom posters, colouring posters and personal space wrist bands to keep practicing personal space in the classroom.

★ Bind the social story to make a book

★ Cut up the picture cards and space ships for the game board
