EDITABLE
NOTE: I have revised these stories to be EDITABLE! The titles and clipart of all stories remain the same, but each story has an editable version in Arial font that you can change to meet the needs of your individual learners.
DIGITAL and PRINTABLE
Stories come with both printable and digital options for Google Slides. Please see the PDF with "digital directions" in the title to access the editable Google Slides version.
Two Versions for Each Story!
Two different versions of each story are included: Standard and Simple. The standard (or advanced) version includes more detail, stronger vocabulary, and more wording. These would be appropriate for students with stronger language and reading skills. The simple version includes much simpler vocabulary, smaller font and less wording. These would be best for kids with lower language or reading abilities. This allows you to choose which story would best fit the needs of your students.
How to Use
Social scripts are a great way for children to learn routines and how to handle specific situations.
- In order to teach a particular skill or routine, first read the script with the child.
- Let them know that this is a way to help them during the situation.
- Let them ask you questions and become involved in the solution.
- After first reading the script with the child, then the student should read the script to him/herself.
- Then, when the child is feeling angry, scared, or any other emotion, prompt him or her to read the script. This allows students to become more independent and prompt themselves to make positive choices before challenging situations.
