Social Emotional Learning Fortune Tellers Bundle | Lessons, Crafts, & Activities

Use these interactive fortune teller crafts to teach about social emotional learning to your students. Individual fortune tellers include all five main areas of SEL: self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationships, and decision-making.

Each craft includes a list of over 50 questions specific to that area of SEL, multiple fortune tellers for kids to create, and a review sheet to help discuss new learning. This activity is ideal for hands-on learners, kids who love crafts, and just adding fun into your social emotional learning time!

Skills Targeted

A wide variety of skills are included in each social emotional learning fortune teller craft:

• Self-Awareness: strengths, hopes, emotions, and values.
• Self-Management: motivation, self-control, managing stress, and study skills.
• Social Awareness: respect, social skills, empathy, and diversity.
• Relationships: friendships, working with others, communication, and conflict resolution.
• Decision-Making: responsibility, problem-solving, good choices, and healthy habits.

How to Use

• First, kids will learn about one topic of social emotional learning with a worksheet.
• Then, they will review a list of questions and choose the ones that are most interesting to them.
• They will write their questions in their individual fortune teller craft.
• Learners will then color it, cut it out, and fold it using the student friendly directions with real photos!
• Finally, kids will work with a partner to use their fortune teller and ask the questions. This will help target, discuss, and encourage new learning in each area for social emotional learning.

You can choose to use one fortune teller for each week, or as soon as you see fit for your learners!

Each set includes 5 completely filled in fortune tellers and one blank fortune teller for students to fill in, with a total of 30 unique fortune tellers in this bundle!

Why Teach Social Emotional Learning Skills

Social and emotional learning, referred to as SEL, is the process that helps kids and young adults learn critical skills, attitudes, and mindsets for social and emotional success. These skills cover five major areas: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationships, and responsible decision-making. It’s actually difficult to describe in just one sentence because SEL covers everything from building confidence and managing emotions to making friends and understanding ethical decision-making skills. These are truly the foundational skills that help kids to be successful in and out of school.
