Description

How to Make a Snowman at Night is a ready-to-use Powerpoint lesson with step-by-step directions made especially for the young artist or elementary student.

Materials are inexpensive and simple:

  • white chalk pastel
  • blue chalk pastel
  • light blue construction paper
  • a big eraser and a small eraser (like a pencil eraser)
  • other colors of chalk pastel for the hat, scarf etc.

Young artists will love learning authentic art vocabulary all while creating something fun and UNIQUE. Artist choices (with sample ideas) allow students freedom of expression while learning real art concepts.

Before I begin this project, I read my students the book "Snowmen at Night" by Caralyn Buechner, illustrated by Mark Buechner. We look at the pictures and discuss the color of the shadows.

Older students can look at the motions of the snowmen and make their snowmen show movement (an art principle).

If you love this time-saving lesson, please consider leaving a review!

As always, happy creating!

Note: I have downloaded the Powerpoint on my own Google Slides at school and it worked without a problem. However, let me know if you have any problems.

Tips: In the past, I have not used slide 33 depending on the age and abilities of my students.
