Description

"Snazzy Snacks" is a weekly activity that can be used to practice many important skills such as handwriting, following directions, measuring, and teamwork. Each week students get to practice their handwriting and note taking skills by completing a fill-in-the-blank recipe that correlates with the current holiday or season. Once their recipe is complete, students get to practice following written and oral direction to create their Snazzy Snack. These snacks are fun to make and even more fun to eat!

Included with your purchase:
Teacher Tips- The teacher tips are included to help you get started with the Snazzy Snack project. These tips are things I learned doing this project over the years. You may find your own way to implement this project but I hope my tips help you get off to a smooth start!

Recipe Table of Contents- The table of contents lists all the recipes in the bundle and suggests what month they could be used. Most months have four recipes and you may choose not to use them all. You can also make copies of the table of contents to include in the recipe book at the end of the year.

Recipes- You will find two copies of each recipe in this bundle. The first copy is the “key” with the directions filled in for you. You may want to make a transparency of this version or display the PDF on your interactive whiteboard. I also recommend making copies of this version for students who are absent so they can still include the recipe in the book at the end of the year. The second copy of the recipe is a fill-in-the-blank version so students can fill in the missing words as you go through the recipe with them verbally. This activity provides a great opportunity for students to make predictions using context clues as you discuss the recipe together.

Parent Letter- A kickoff letter is included that can be sent home explaining the Snazzy Snack project to parents and how the donations will work.

Donation List- The donation list can be copied and sent home to parents weekly. There is a separate list for each recipe.

Thank You Notes- Keep copies of the thank you notes on hand so you can quickly and easily recognize the parents who contribute to the Snazzy Snack project.

Binder Donation Letter- At the end of the year I would have students create a Snazzy Snack Recipe Book to take home as a keepsake. I chose to use ½ inch binders for the books, and
therefore, asked parents to donate a couple dollars towards the purchase of the binders. I preferred the binders over any other method because they were durable and I could easily three hole punch all the recipes and the students could decorate a cover page to slide in the front pocket.

Recipe Book Labels- This page can be printed on to a standard shipping label and be used on the front or the bind of the recipe book at the end of the year.
