Snail Snail Prepare, Present and Practice Melody Activities So-Mi

Are you looking for a way to start teaching melody to kids? Snail, Snail is a great beginning song for teaching solfege to kids!

Starting with the lyrics and beat charts, Snail, Snail Prepare, Present and Practice Melody Activities is packed with resources for teaching the pitches so and mi to your elementary music students. We read the rhythms (quarter notes and eighth notes) and then continue to explore the melodic contour!

After kinesthetically preparing the melody (tapping the contour chart), students are introduced to so and mi!

I included a quick solo assessment game (Kings & Queens) as well as slides to present the notation on the steps, with rhythms, and on the staff (with lines and spaces thrown in too!).

Activities for reading, writing and improvising the melody are also included - with flashcards!
