What educators are saying

I wanted to try something new for some of my students who were not succeeding in a typical way. This helped me a lot! I am looking at other Cool School Comics to help with other concepts for this and next year.
My students loved the comic style presentation! The slides were even animated so they thought that was really cool. The worksheets were helpful for my students to practice what we just practiced as a class. Thank you for making the graphs easier to see!

Description

Revamp your summer school math curriculum with these captivating, print-and-go math comics! Whether you are taking on summer tutoring or just searching for fun summer math activities, this packet will engage your learners and improve retention. This is because comics grab the attention of a wide range of learners, even your most reluctant readers.

If you are looking for success during this extended school year, try these slope comics!

Students will read comics providing an intro to slope, positive and negative slope, undefined and zero slopes, and the slope formula. They will also have the opportunity to practice finding slope from a graph and two points.

Product Overview

This fully illustrated math resource provides an intro to slope and provides a wide range of practice opportunities. The concepts are delivered in a cartoon format making them easier to understand and accessible to students who struggle with reading.

  • Begin your slope lesson with the fully animated Google slideshow and witness your learners eagerly following along with the Slope Guided Notes.
  • Your learners will relate finding slope to a hotel visit. They will consider how one has to rise up an elevator and then run down the hall to get to their hotel room.
  • Readers will also follow a snowboarder as he attempts to travel down a hill with zero slope and an undefined slope (scary!)
  • Students will have three opportunities to practice finding the slope. Each practice worksheet increases in difficulty allowing learners to build on understanding.

Each comic-style page is carefully crafted to deliver key concepts effectively, ensuring an intuitive grasp of the subject matter. The dynamic visual cues and vibrant illustrations not only enhance comprehension but also make learning slope a truly enjoyable experience.

Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways. For example, compare a distance-time graph to a distance-time equation to determine which of two moving objects has greater speed.
Use similar triangles to explain why the slope m is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane; derive the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 for a line through the origin and the equation 𝘺 = 𝘮𝘹 + 𝘣 for a line intercepting the vertical axis at 𝘣.
