Update I added Assignment #4B

Included in the zip folder are 18 PDF files. 3 are study guides, 13 are assignments and 2 are formative intro/assessments over angle of elevation and depression.

Study Guide #1 is the “SOHCAHTOA” method of memorizing the definitions of sine, cosine and tangent.

Study Guide #2 is a decision map for students to navigate as to how to pick sine, cosine or tangent when working a problem.

Study Guide #3 is a decision guide about how to solve a trig ratio.

Formative Assessment PDF #1 is a 26 page presentation. The purpose is to reveal the angle of elevation and the angle of depression are congruent. Parallel lines are reviewed to show these 2 angles are congruent by the Alternate Interior Angles Theorem.

Formative Assessment PDF #2 is just like #1 but saved on small slides(6 per page) for a total of 5 pages.

Assignment #1 is a 20 question multiple choice exercise where the emphasis is on deciding what angle is opposite or adjacent to a side and vice versa. The assignment is on 1 page for easy printing. It is also on the Socrative platform at Socrative.com. The share number is included in the file.

Assignment #2 is a 20 question True/False exercise where the student determines if a trig ratio is true or false. The assignment is on 1 page for easy printing. It is also on the Socrative platform at Socrative.com. The share number is included in the file.

Assignment #2A is a 20 question multiple choice assignment. The student has to decide a value of a trig ratio. The assignment is on 1 page for easy printing. It is also on the Socrative platform at Socrative.com. The share number is included in the file.

Assignment #3 is a 20 question multiple choice exercise where the student has to identify if a trig ratio is true or false. Also, the student must identify a value for a trig ratio. The assignment is on 1 page for easy printing. It is also on the Socrative platform at Socrative.com. The share number is included in the file.

Assignment #4 and #5 go together in 2 exercises.

Assignment #4 is 15 problems where the student has to pick the correct trig ratio to solve for x. There are 15 choices for each problem. This seems excessive but, to me, it really works. The assignment is on 1 page for easy printing. It is also on the Socrative platform at Socrative.com. The share number is included in the file.

Assignment #5 is the same 15 problems as assignment #4 but the student has to solve the ratio for x. The assignment is on 1 page for easy printing. It is also on the Socrative platform at Socrative.com. The share number is included in the file.

Assignment #6 is a 20 question activity where the student has to use Sine, Cosine and Tangent to solve for x. When appropriate, the student has to round to 2 decimal places. The assignment is on 1 page for easy printing. It is also on the Socrative platform at Socrative.com. The share number is included in the file.

Assignment #7A is a 15 question multiple choice assignment. Students are given a right triangle with a missing side. They must use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the missing side and then find the trig ratio. It is on 1 page for easy printing and available for use at socrative.com

Assignment #7C is a 15 question short answer assignment. A calculator is not needed. The student reads a provided table of trigonometric values to answer questions. Sometimes the answer is an angle and sometimes it is a ratio of sides. It is on 1 page for easy printing and can be used at socrative.com

Assignment File #7 is a 24 question assignment. The focus is word problems that involve sine, cosine and tangent. Some problems are multiple choice where the student picks an appropriate triangle based on conditions. Some problems are free response where the student answers the given problem. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment file #8 is a 24 question assignment. 12 questions are multiple choice and 12 are short answer. The student uses the following to find missing sides or angles in right triangles:

1. The sine ratio

2. The cosine ratio

3. The tangent ratio

4. The Pythagorean Theorem

5. The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is 180 degrees

6. Some triangles do not have enough information to solve for x

It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment file #9 is a 24 question summative assessment of the previous assignments. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment file #10 is a 3 page summative assessment(test). Page 1 is 24 questions mostly multiple choice. Page 2 is 6 triangles. The student is asked to write and solve a trig ratio for each. Page 3 is 2 word problems. The student is asked to draw a sketch, make a trig ratio and solve it.
