Description

Simplifying (Reducing) Fractions will be so much fun with this Math Mystery Activity, The 'Case of The Shogun's Sword.' Students will find themselves in Japan during the year 1850, helping the Shogun solve who switched his precious sword. It's a great way to get lots of practice in simplifying (reducing) fractions to the lowest terms.

This is the 4th-grade version and takes the difficulty level up a notch from the 3rd-grade version of this mystery. Denominator answers range between 2-12 in this mystery.

Math Skills Required to Unlock Clues

There are FIVE clues to crack to solve who switched the Shogun's Sword:

  • Clue 1 - Simplifying/Reducing Fractions
  • Clue 2 - Simplifying/Reducing Fractions
  • Clue 3 - Simplifying/Reducing Fractions
  • Clue 4 - Simplifying/Reducing Fractions (Lots of practice with multiples of ten in both the numerator and denominator for this clue)
  • Clue 5 - Simplifying/Reducing Fractions

PLEASE NOTE - In this 4th-grade version, the denominators of simplified answers are between 2-12.
