Description

Use this Google Presentation lesson to introduce your students to the art of annotating. This brief presentation gives students an understanding of what to make note of as they annotate. It also provides an example annotation and an opportunity for independent practice with a story of their choosing at the end.

Instead of memorizing a bunch of random symbols and colors, students will practice these three annotation skills:

  • Keep track of what we know - details from the text
  • Keep track of what we wonder / question - questions, confusing moments or words prompted by the text
  • Keep track of what we think as we read - inferences, predictions, thoughts, connections, etc.

It is a perfect way to engage your readers and get them to read and think more deeply about their reading!
