Description
Cuca's Conundrums Episode Ten: "Cuquita Brava!" Undocumented Flamenco Singer is a short story of how undocumented immigrants managed to survive in America, despite economic, cultural and prejudicial barriers.
Undocumented Immigrant, “Cuquita” sings in Dora’s Downtown Los Angeles Vaudeville Show, “Flamenco Follies,” and tries to save Dora from the lecherous clutches of the theater owner and bilingual vaudeville show’s promoter. Dora, unexpectedly, flees to Méjico City, making Cuca scared and sad. Ernesto gives Cuca a pawnshop guitára, for Christmas, to cheer her up.

These cuentos, stories about thinking in two cultures, speaking in two languages and adapting to everyday bicultural communication interactions with grace, compassion and humor, came from my family, friends and neighbor’s memories and conversations. Cherish them. They are part of our multicultural community’s herencia, inheritance.
