Looking for a hands-on approach to teaching blending Short A CVC words? These clip cards are perfect for practicing tapping to blend, successive blending, and continuous blending!
This THREE-IN-ONE resource includes blending cards for 20 Short A CVC words. There are three sets with a different blending option in each set. Students will blend the word and clip the correct picture.
Set 1: Tap to Blend - The cards have a dot under each letter. Students will touch each dot while saying the sound. Finally, they will blend the word together by sliding their finger along the arrow. They will clip the correct picture after reading the word.
Set 2: Successive Blending - The cards have a swoop under the first and second letters on the second and third succession. This is to encourage students to blend the first two sounds together, then add the final sound, and finally slide their finger along the arrow while reading the word. They will clip the correct picture after reading the word.
Set 3 - Continuous Blending - The cards have a swoop between the first and second and second and third letters. Students are encouraged to swoop their finger toward the next sound in a continuous blend. Finally, they will blend the word together by sliding their finger along the arrow. They will clip the correct picture after reading the word.
FAQ:
How many cards are included? - There are 20 cards in each set. The same 20 words are used, just with different blending strategies.
Do these require color ink? - There are color AND black-and-white versions included.
Do I have to use clothespins with these? - Nope! I designed them to be used as clip cards, but students could also cover the correct picture with mini erasers or other manipulatives.
