What educators are saying

Love this resource unfortunately we did not have time for it with the unit. Will definitely use it somehow through the remaining school year!
Students absolutely loved this. They enjoyed working with a team to research and create the presentations. They especially liked being a shark while others presented.

Description

This activity set is student-centered, rigorous and fun. It comes with a Common Core one-page reading covering the Golden Age of the Tang and Song dynasties. Students are then issued one of nine innovations from Medieval China to research and create a Shark Tank-type presentation. Students present while five pre-selected class "sharks" use a rubric to evaluate the presentation based on enthusiasm, support from readings, and marketing ideas. The class fills out an invention basics chart, including economic impact after or during each presentation.

Here's what is included:

1. A Close Medieval China Innovation Reading and Invention Chart

2. Student Poster Presentation Examples

3. A "shark" rubric to evaluate each presentation.

4. A Common Core Speaking and Listening rubric for teachers (if desired)

5. A presentation organizational chart
