Description

Bring fun and challenging patterns and shapes activities into your kindergarten math teaching with this set of riddles, clip cards, and more!

Each of the 50 shapes and patterns riddles in this resource has three clues and four possible answers. As you guide your students to solve each clue in order, they will eliminate and cross out one of the possible answers each time until only the correct response remains.

What topics and vocabulary do my students need to know to be successful with these activities?

* The 2D shapes included in this set are square, rectangle, triangle, circle, trapezoid, and oval.

* The clues include number of sides/edges, number of corners, name of shape, color, and position in a pattern (e.g. next, third, fifth, etc.).

What does this kindergarten math resource include?

* 50 riddle cards: The cards are full-page size, to make them easier for you display on your interactive board, use whole class, or use in small groups. If you choose to spiral bind them as a book, a book cover is also included. If you'd prefer smaller cards, simply set your printer to print two per page.

* An answer key for the 50 riddles.

* Reference / teaching cards for the shapes included

* An easy prep one page board game - no cards to print and prepare!

* A set of 12 challenging clip cards. Your students will read a phrase like "blue triangle" or "purple oval" and clip the matching shape. You can make this accessible to all students by having a chart(S) of color words handy for all students to use as needed.

How will you use these patterns and shapes activities in your kindergarten classroom?

* Whole class and small group lessons

* Math interventions and RtI

* Sponge activities for spare moments

* Math centers and math rotations

* Sub tubs

* Assemble the riddle cards and cover as a book for your classroom library

* Lesson warm-ups

* Early finishers

* Challenge activities for advanced learners to complete independently
