Description

This book is designed so that you can copy the book, cut it in half, staple, and then it is ready for use.

The book has 8 pages including a title page “Shapes,” and then each of the remaining 7 pages contains black and white pictures of 2D shapes circle, square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, octagon, and rhombus. Each page says “This is a (name of shape)” at the top of each page with a picture of one shape under the sentence. Under each shape are the directions to color the shape a particular color and to draw a line to the real life picture that is the same shape. There are 3 real life pictures on the right side of each page for students to draw a line to the matching shape. Only one shape matches with the other two pictures being different shapes. Students can then also color the picture that matches the shape.

The following shapes are included in the book: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, octagon, and rhombus.

The PREVIEW shows every page included.

Pages are not numbered so that the teacher has the flexibility to take out shapes not desired and to order them according to needs.

Look at the preview to see every page included.

Students can benefit from this reader by tracking print, identifying spaces between words, identifying particular letters of the alphabet, recognizing sounds (beginning, middle, and ending) in each word, and reading sight words and grade level text.

For extension activities, students could add another sentence to each page to add details. The black and white pictures allow students the opportunity to color the pictures. This reader is great for guided reading groups, homework, or literacy center activities. It also includes math standards with shapes.
