What educators are saying

My Theater students loved using this resource for shadow puppet performances. There are enough types of animals to tell most fables and nursery rhymes. Very engaging and simple to use.
Great clipart. Nice and clear with thick lines. I really liked it and it worked really well for my resource thank you.

In my third grade class, students create their own shadow puppet fables.
The outline of an animal is traced onto tag board, cut out, and used as a master animal template to be shared by the class.
Students trace the master template onto black tag board and cut it out for their personal shadow puppet of that animal.
The simplest way to make an eye is to use a hole punch.
If students want their shadow puppets to have any interior designs, they may draw a simple shape or two. A responsible adult then cuts the shapes out using an X-Acto knife so light may shine through the template.
A Popsicle stick or pencil is taped onto one side for a handle.
Shadow puppets can be flipped around depending on what direction your students want their puppets to move.
To see what one of our shadow puppet scenes looks like, just scroll over the photograph. Students create scenery and props to go along with their fables.

Each of the animal outlines/shadow puppet templates in this series fits onto a half sheet of 8 ½ by 11-inch paper. This PDF is 18 pages long, with two animals per page.
Each image is black and white, and is a high-resolution PDF of about 600 KB.

Please try a free sample of the tortoise and the hare by searching for: Tortoise & Hare: Black & White Outline/Shadow Puppet Templates.
All other animal images may be purchased separately for 50 cents each, or as a set of 36 for $14.00.
