Description

This unit gives students a deeper, standards-based understanding of the Plains American Indians and their relationship with the buffalo! I've included a variety of common-core aligned activities and texts that will certainly assess your students' comprehension! A wonderful addition to any Social Studies/ELA curriculum!

FEATURES

• 700 word passage leveled to 3-5 grades. Passage explains the relationship between the U.S. Government and the Native Americans of the Plains in the 1800s. More specifically, the passage details how the buffalo of the plains were almost driven to extinction.

• Tiered timeline activity: Students will cut out and paste events from the passage onto a timeline. Students must find the year and place them in the correct order. One version includes the events while one version challenges students to find both the events and the corresponding years.

• "Gathering the Evidence" Activity: students are given six questions and must underline their answers in the passage with the given color.

• Answer sheet included.

• Created by NATIVE American Teacher born and raised on reservation.
