What educators are saying

Used this as a follow up to making an actual sandwich so supported the writing. The visuals were great and helped our 2nd language learners. Thank you
Used this for my students to see their preassement levels. Asking them to grab the lettuce and put it on top of the bun or to place the pickles next to it. Then they would tell me what they did in order.

Description

Sequencing, oral language, categorizing and more… I Can Make a Sandwich.

This is a flexible activity set for preschool, Kindergarten and special education, using the theme of sandwich making. The activities focus on the skills and understanding of sequencing and categorizing. Encourage the children to explain what they are doing, as they do it, and to give their reasons why.

Contents

(Click on title in product to go to the page)

• Set of large colorful cutouts to make 2 (or more) kinds of sandwiches, and 3 places to put the completed sandwiches – a lunch box, a paper bag and a plate. This can be a center, a small group or individual activity. Encourage children to explain what they are doing, as they do it.

• Set of the above sandwich-making large cutouts in b/w – children can color and decorate the pictures.

• Set of 12 sandwich-making items flash cards, with a mat. Place the items in sequential order up to 6, as if making a sandwich. The sections on the mat are numbered 1 to 6. Children explain why they placed the items in a particular sequence – if it is logical, it is correct. This can be a center or a cut and paste activity.

• Printable (b/w) - I can make a sandwich… Children draw 3 steps in making a sandwich. First, next, last. There is a space for an adult to write dictated words.

• Categorizing cut and paste (b/w) – Can I eat this on a sandwich? Yes, no. 12 pictures to sort.

• Printable –“This is the yummiest sandwich of all!” Children draw picture, and describe it.

• 11 theme-related vocabulary picture/word strips – word wall, pocket chart. Can be used as a center – print and cut 2 sets of strips – cut up one of the sets into 2 pieces (words and pictures) and match to the intact set.
