Description
September 11 or Patriot Day activity for upper grades. A kid-friendly informational text reading passage of the events of 9-11 with comprehension questions, and a flag coloring sheet. Includes original photos of the fire department memorial at Ground Zero. Students read the nonfiction story or have it read to them and look at the photos and discuss what happened on 9/11. (Can be projected for the whole class to see.) Then they answer the comprehension questions and write an acrostic poem for Patriot's Day. Students learn the history and how the flag became a symbol of strength during the September 11th crisis. They will enjoy the flag coloring sheet and writing paper about September 11th. Also includes a word search puzzle at the end for early finishers. Digital and Print: Includes an Easel Activity ready for learning with digital tools. Assign it in Google Classroom or use a link in any LMS. Select the pages you want and add your own directions or notes!
