Description

This PowerPoint provides students with an introduction to the following topics:

- Sentences

- Fragments

- Compound Sentences

- Coordinating Conjunctions

- Run-On Sentences

Students are given examples of each and shown how to fix fragments and run-ons. Students are also given practice identifying all of the above as well as fixing fragments and run-ons.

Most of the slides can be printed, laminated, and displayed as posters in your classroom as well.

This PowerPoint is aligned to the following state standards:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.3.1h Use coordinating and subordinating conjunctions.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.3.1i Produce simple, compound, and complex sentences.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.4.1f Produce complete sentences, recognizing and correcting inappropriate fragments and run-ons.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.4.2c Use a comma before a coordinating conjunction in a compound sentence.
