Description
Do textbooks and web sites provide examples of sentence fragments? Yes. Are they examples of the mistakes our students actually make in their writing? Not usually.
This product is available as either a PowerPoint or a Prezi. You will get both files with your purchase. Prezi is web based and free with a school email. Your students will love it, but I included the original PowerPoint because it has a basic format that is editable.
The sentence fragments in this presentation represent mistakes common in student writing. For example, many young writers create a sentence fragment when they add a transition word (First, is reasons you shouldn't do drugs).
This PowerPoint and Prezi consists of twenty-nine slides. There is a title and instructions screen followed by fifteen groups of words. After your students determine if each group is a complete sentence or a fragment, you can go over the answers on the last fifteen slides. On the PowerPoint file, the animation on the slides is set up where you can reveal the group of words, the answer, and the fix-up sentence separately.
This product is part of a bundle that contains four activities very similar to this one. You can view it here: Sentence, Run-On, or Fragment? PowerPoint Bundle
