Description

Students will work in pairs or independently to draw the meaning of Latin sentences using present tense verbs (1st/2nd conjugation only) and 1st declension nouns.

This activity is best with mini-whiteboards, but can also be done on paper.

How it works:

  • Show the sentence and give students one-two minutes to draw what it means.
    • They can't just write the translation. They have to SHOW it. That's the fun part and the challenge!

  • As time is wrapping up, give students a 10-second countdown. Then, they should all hold up their drawings and look around to see what others have done.
  • Ask a student, whose drawing is accurate, to share what the sentence meant. Then, show the answer slide to make sure everyone understands before moving forward.
  • Repeat.

Includes:

  • Teacher instructions for easier implementation
  • Both a color and black-and-white version
