What educators are saying
This was fast and easy to prep for a student that I wanted to incorporate sensory breaks into their daily schedule.
This was a great resource to add to our "quiet time" in the afternoon. Helpful for those learners on the spectrum who need the structure and variety in their play. I mixed in some more play options for my preK students but I did like and use the visuals included.
Description
This Sensory Diet Choice Board and “to Do list” Schedule File Folder includes 20 picture icons of sensory activities including a walk, play dough, sensory bin, water play, lotion, squeezes, trampoline, blanket, tickles, etc… On the left of the file folder is a choice board with an “I want” sentence starter strip. Staff can put available choices on the choice board, and students or staff can create their sensory diet “schedule.” The “To do/All Done” schedule is a great visual for the sensory choice time activity as it helps students know what to expect, and know when the activity is finished. (I set a timer for each individual activity to cue students when to move on, and to check for the next item on the “to-do list.” )
On the back of the file folder is a “not available” envelope to put extra icons, or pictures of items that are not a choice at that time. Also included are sensory choice schedule icons to be put on the students’ daily schedule as needed throughout the day. The front of the file folder is a cover with an identical “sensory choice” picture for students to match the schedule icon to.
You can create one file folder for each student, or use it for a whole class sensory choice time. You can even use the choice board without the schedule and have each student choose one sensory activity to participate in during “wait” or “down time.”
