What educators are saying

I am teaching my first year in a self-contained classroom in the fall, and was so overwhelmed! This guide helped me to conceptualize what to teach and how to teach it! Thank you so much for this clear and practical guide.

Description

Teaching students with autism and other significant disabilities can be challenging. With varying needs, coming up with a curriculum which works for each child can be very difficult. Some of the hardest skills to teach are self help skills. Along with cognitive delays as well as fine motor and sensory challenges, there is a social component to keeping up with your appearance and hygiene. This social component adds to the challenge of teaching self help skills to a level of independence.
This curriculum checklist breaks down skills into 7 key areas (Hygiene and Personal Grooming, Medical Care and Treatment, Eating, Toileting, Dressing Self, Health and Wellness & Personal Safety) and identifies over 290 skills to assess and teach as well as provides a suggested sequence for instruction.
A curriculum guide providing general guidelines for assessment is also included.

This product preview contains a small portion of one skill domain as well as part of the curriculum guide.

**This product was revised to include both PDF & editable versions of the curriculum checklist. Customize away :)
