Selective Mutism & other Speech Disorders | Boom Cards for Exploring Feelings

These digital Boom Cards™ are a version of my bestselling printable product with the same name. This is a therapeutic activity for children with communication differences. As you know, communication delays and disorders (or learning English as a second language while living in an English speaking country) can affect children emotionally and socially. We can help with that! Using the statement cards and the sorting mats (“Yes, I agree” and “No, I don't agree”) helps children to communicate feelings about talking without needing to even speak. This is EXTRA useful for children who display selective mutism because this product gives the child a means of communicating nonverbally. Is it just me, or does selective mutism seem to be on the rise? I am seeing kids with this debilitating disorder more and more these days, and treating them appropriately can be quite a challenge. Start with this! The printable version has been my go-to for helping children or school teams over the past 6 years, but This can be an eye-opening activity to use with any child with any kind of commnication disorder. I made this product for my own use with my own students with selective mutism but then discoverd that it was helpful with ALL of my students!

What's in this Download?

► 1 Boom Card Deck with 70 cards with statements about communication. The child (or children) can choose a card, read it (or you can read it to them) and then DRAG TO SORT it on one of th sorting mats according to how they feel about it - AGREE or DISAGREE.

✭ I like to sort some of the cards myself, too, to show my students that everyone big and small has strong, personal feelings about communication.
