This Writing Journal was designed to give your students more practice with the writing skills that there never seems to be enough time for...handwriting and drawing!

Handwriting Practice

After the first few weeks of school, we often stop teaching handwriting daily. Our students may forget to focus on forming each letter correctly and they begin to just write as fast as they can. With these writing journals, students will spend time focusing on handwriting practice, without adding additional handwriting activities to their writing lesson.

Directed Drawings

The directed drawings were created to help your students learn how to draw 100 seasonal based illustrations that they can include in other writing pieces. They will follow the step-by-step drawing example, then add details to make it their own. Your students will become more confident drawing on their own, using the drawing skills they’ve learned throughout the rest of their writing activities.

Sentence Practice

These seasonal writing journals include vocabulary words and drawings. Two sets are included: 100 pages with sentences to trace and 100 pages with independent sentence writing. This way, you can differentiate for all students while working on the same directed drawings and vocabulary.

Vocabulary

Each lesson focuses on a specific vocabulary word that will come up during the season. Students will read, trace, and write the word that they are drawing. By writing and drawing, students will learn the meaning of the word. This will help to improve their ability to use new words across other writing activities.

Just print and go!

These seasonal writing journals can be used throughout the year to continually review handwriting, drawing, and sentence writing. You can make these writing journals into a spiral-bound journal or just print them daily.
