Materials Needed: construction paper strips in Halloween colors, straws, plastic lacing or yarn, playdough, scissors, glue, crayons, pencil
Halloween Scissor Skills - Simple Lines, Fringing, Snipping
1] Cutting Lines and Shapes - Color the pictures. Cut the long line to detach the lower portion of the page. Cut the short line to separate the shapes. Cut out the square. Cut out the circle. Glue. Choice of 6.
2] Color, Snip, Glue – Provide several thin strips of Halloween colored paper, scissors, and glue. Color the picture and snip squares from the strips. Use the paper squares to create the border. Choice of 6.
3] Snip and Stick Visual Discrimination (ghosts) - Cut off the strip at the bottom of the page. Snip the strip of pictures apart. Put a drop of glue on a glue dot. Stick a picture square onto the dot. Repeat for all the squares. Color. Choice of 3.
4] Snip and Stick Counting (candy corn) - Cut off the strip at the bottom of the page. Snip the strip of numbers apart. Put a drop of glue on a glue dot. Stick a number square onto the dot. Repeat for all the squares. Color. Choice of 4.
5] Snip A Scene – Color the scene. Color and snip the strip of pictures apart. Glue the snipped pictures onto the scene wherever you like. Choice of 5.
6] Trace, Color, Fringe - Trace the picture and word. Color. Use scissors to fringe 3 sides. Cut on the short lines to the ends for a fringed border. Choice of 12.
7] Snip and Sort - Snip apart the pictures (half page). Glue onto an empty space in the matching row. Choice of 2.
8] Righty, Lefty Cutting Strips - Cut page in half. Color the pictures. Cut the left or right side off from the bottom to the top. Choice of 10 (5 right, 5 left).
9] Snipping Straws Necklace Craft - Choose and color a picture. Fold in half and glue onto the middle of your lacing. Cut straws into pieces. String the straw pieces on both sides of the picture. Tie and wear. Choice of 10 pictures.
Just a side note: The paper straws shown in the picture were difficult to cut for my kiddos. You might want to stick with regular plastic straws. They had a much easier time with them.
10] Snipping Playdough – Candy Ten Frame Mats 0-10 – Laminate the mats. Roll playdough into a snake and make the number. Roll more dough into a snake and snip off small logs with scissors. Fill the ten frame with the snipped pieces, matching the number. Choice of 11.
