What educators are saying

I used this resource all year long to give students an opportunity to analyze data from charts and graphs. Great resource!
Since 5th graders take the state science test for the first time in my state, I use these as a refresher to review the different types of charts and graphs before state test time.

    Description

Discover the secret to better classroom management and student comprehension! Introducing science bell ringers, the ultimate solution to address your teaching challenges. Not only will they assist in strengthening classroom control and reinforcing student knowledge, but they also offer many other benefits. Each science bellringer includes a teacher presentation to use with your Smartboard. This will help create a classroom routine for students to start working immediately. Student printable sheets allow them to demonstrate their knowledge of your formative assessments. These science warmups will help reinforce important science topics such as experimental design, data analysis, measurement, and graphing.

    Students will:

    • Analyze, interpret, and demonstrate their understanding of graphs
    • Metric measurement tools
    • How to read measurements using the graduated cylinder, triple beam balance, centimeter ruler, and Celsius thermometer
    • How to solve for density
    • Why metric measurement is relevant in real-life
    • Analyze and interpret data to determine similarities and differences in findings
    • Consider the limitations of data analysis
    • Analyze, and interpret data to identify relationships
    • Determine an experiment's problem
    • Build a hypothesis
    • Identify independent and dependent variables
    • Pinpoint controls
    • Design an experiment
    • Form conclusions

Each science bell ringer set includes:

    • Teacher instructions
    • Teacher Presentation: 20 Google Slides, which include either a graph, data table, experimental design scenario, or metric measurement concept and questions for students. Each slide has at least 2 questions for students to answer.
    • EDITABLE Teacher Presentation: Includes the graph, data table, or metric measurement concept, but you write the questions you want your students to answer
    • Printable Student Sheets: Print these out to hold students accountable for completing their science warmup activity.
    • EDITABLE Student Sheets: These sheets include the data table, graph, or metric measurement concept but allow YOU to write out the questions to personalize the learning experience for your students.

How to use bellringers in your science classroom:

    • Improve classroom management - Students will walk into your classroom and know they have a task to accomplish. This will help students learn your classroom routines while giving them less downtime at the beginning of class so you can get to work quicker.
    • Improve student engagement - Quick, energetic activities can help your students become mentally and emotionally ready to learn more about the science concept you will discuss during the period.
    • Question of the Day: Start your science class with a question of the day. This will help to build and refine students' ability in basic science concepts, allow you to develop a classroom routine to get students thinking about science as soon as they enter your classroom, and provide a formative assessment each class period.
    • Science Skill Review: Instead of daily practice, start the school year analyzing these 20 graphs, metric measurements, or data tables. Share the Google Teacher presentation with your students, and have them work in small groups or pairs to answer the questions.
    • Test Prep: Perfect to build on student test prep skills as these graphs, measurements, and data tables cover various science topics.
    • Prepare students for success - Students are refreshed on the previous day’s learning and know what to expect in today’s class.
    • Science station: Back to school means reviewing important concepts. Make a science station and have students answer the questions together.
    • Enrichment: Give students more practice reading data, measurements, and graphs. Have them complete the printable worksheets to reinforce their understanding.
    • Homework assignment: Assign this as a weekly homework assignment by splitting the worksheets up so that students answer 4 questions at a time.
    • Sub plans: This activity works well as sub plans as students do not need background information on a topic to complete it. Assign the activity and allow students to reinforce their critical thinking skills to answer the questions.

The following science bellringers are included in this bundle:
