Description
This research writing unit is a perfect resource if you are wondering how you are going to scaffold writing a research paper with your group of students! It's 70+ pages of resources designed to help make this process as easy as possible -- no matter the skill level of your students!
It was created to replace an informational essay in my curriculum that lacked the ability for students to have any choice in their writing because even with (or especially with) struggling writers, there needs to be an element of choice if they are to have any level of confidence in their writing.
This essay topic allows students the space to pick an area of interest and select a groundbreaker who has had a major impact upon a field. Students selected groundbreakers across a wide variety of fields, and their choices ranged from Martin Luther King Jr. to Cardi B to Steve Jobs. The essay question asks, "How has your groundbreaker made an impact on society and paved the way for others?"
