Sample College ENG 1 Syllabus

This sets students up to prepare for realistic but substantial preparation outside of the class--as mandated by the federal definition of a college credit hour--and participation inside of the classroom through a point system for which they will receive a grade in the class and be given time to miss classes if needed for every additional point over the required amount for the participation grade. This syllabus is for my College English I course. It outlines the main outcomes from a typical college following the current WPA outcomes and outlines the work to be done to meet expectations of writing 21 pages of polished prose by the end of the school year.
