This lesson uses the STEM 5-E Instructional Method: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate. Rubric included
Students will:
Create a replica of the spacesuit arm & glove
Conduct astronaut hand physical training exercises and strength test.
Fill out Astronaut Reports and graph results of strength tests.
Perform a simulated spacewalk with spacesuit gloves- complete 4 EVA tasks before oxygen runs out and without detaching from the space station (their tethers).

Design Challenge- Create an EVA Tool
Learn the importance of space tools and have an EVA Tool Design Challenge where teams try to create an EVA tool capable of performing multiple EVA tasks. Tools are graded on weight, size, efficiency, budget and team presentation. Rubric included. Overall winning team is awarded a certificate.
